OUR MISSION
DIALECTIVE is a fashion collective celebrating an upcoming generation of radically distinct independent talent.
Functioning as a 501c3 nonprofit, we invest in upcoming graduates entering the industry and newly emerging designers. We successfully created the first ever student-run fashion show featuring 20 designers’ thesis collections, and every year a new incoming class will lead the next showcase.
We continue our impact for post-grads with DIALECTIVE SPACE, showrooms scheduled during NYFW, and additional opportunities to existing members of DIALECTIVE.

DIALECTIVE was founded in 2022 by Helen Sotropa, Grace Gordon, Zhexuan Katherine Hu, and Runtan Desmond Du. The group met during their final year of BFA Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design and collectively planned the first DIALECTIVE Runway Showcase.
(1) On May 23, 2023 in East Williamsburg, 20 fashion thesis students from Parsons showcased their collections.
(2) On May 20, 2024 in Gowanus, the second annual DIALECTIVE Runway Showcase took place. 20 fashion thesis students from Parsons also showcased their collections. The year’s directors were Jac Clayton (Director of Production), Eesha Patel (Director of Finance), Jerome Chung (Co-Director of Operations), and Via Zhu (Co-Director of Operations).
In May 2025, the third annual DIALECTIVE Runway Showcase will take place.
OTHER INITIATIVES
* NYFW Showroom, featuring 17 NYC-based emerging designers in Soho, February 14-18, 2024. Led by Helen Sotropa, Grace Gordon, Zhexuan Katherine Hu, and Runtan Desmond Du.
* XYZ clothing line in collaboration with designer Runtan Desmond Du.
* DIALECTIVE SPACE, a shared studio space for emerging designers in East Williamsburg, operational since June 1, 2024. Led by Helen Sotropa & Grace Gordon.
