Bashar Abouljoud’s thesis collection, titled “Embrace of Dormant Eyes”, conveys a narrative developed through a short story written in tandem with the collection. Inspired by the fading mementos of nature’s bestowals, it outlines the tale of a fawn and the world around it, as the world slowly withered away by a bleak, bitter Winter. Throughout the collection, artisanal bespoke tailoring and hand craft is recontextualized to explore methods in which inherently poignant stories may be told not only through the use of the written word, but through the intimacy of a thimble and threaded needle.
