@ecdotcommeEcho Huang is a Chinese-Australian multidisciplinary artist and bespoke tailor who currently has a core focus on designing and making artisanal garments. She aims to translate the varying sensations and transient moments she has experienced from a wide range of adventure sports such as freediving and skydiving, through in-depth conceptual and technical development, into fashionable pieces. While her research and 2D exploration are logic-orientated, her construction process takes on a rather stream-of-consciousness approach, working closely with fabrics to ensure their properties are strategically and conceptually employed. In her upcoming thesis collection “Descend”, she took inspiration from her personal freediving experience with an aim to capture and recreate such sensation for her wearer. The collection features innovative exploration of unconventional materials.
